I've been trying to master my style I've been writing these songs for a little while I can't express what music does to my soul Maybe It's the sound of the drum roll My fingers on the keys and the rhythm down below The melodies though I have little control I remember days playing music with Joel And the money or the fame was never my goal The sound of the beat so inexpressible I don't really know So I could go on talking about the different parts that all form together To make the sound so sweet The music that makes people want to move their feet To the beat, in their cars or the middle of the street It's encouraging I have to say To have people tell me my music is okay I need to slow down Or I will hit the ground This truth I've found I know I'm not the best But I ain't trying to follow the rest I just write whatever comes to my mind Once I sit down It's not hard to find There are others like me I won't say that I'm one of a kind I'm happy with the way I've been designed I get this feeling when the notes are all aligned It far surpasses being better or being unkind I'm complacent knowing that I'm doing just fine I kick back, sit down and unwind Keeping myself motivated is quite a chore When I hit a wall and I can't think anymore It's a war And I gotta learn to take a break before my head gets sore And once more Thats what taking your time is good for I need to slow down Or I will hit the ground This truth I've found
